The Addax Mechanical Cooling Tower Brake is a universal safety device designed to stop and secure the powertrain in high-humidity environments. Its primary function is to eliminate fan "free-wheeling" caused by wind, allowing personnel to perform maintenance tasks inside the cooling tower cell safely and quickly, while protecting equipment from costly damage during storms or high-velocity winds.

Note: The Addax® brake is only compatible with Addax® couplings.

  • Removes the need for ropes or makeshift stopping devices, safely isolating the fan to protect personnel and assets.
  • Physical lockout (lockout pin): Includes a cross-pin locking feature that guarantees total mechanical lockout during maintenance procedures.
  • Safe actuation: The system allows for fan control from outside the fan stack, maximizing operator safety.
  • Corrosion resistance: Critical components made from 316 stainless steel and naval brass fittings eliminate the potential for galvanic corrosion in chemical environments.
  • Universal mounting that allows the brake to be positioned at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock in mass or sandwich end configurations, making it easy to adapt to any coupling configuration.
  • Secures equipment against structural damage during hurricanes or windstorms.

Integrated Cooling Tower Solution

This product is a key component of the Regal Rexnord power train system, specifically engineered to maximize reliability in critical operating environments. For superior performance, this equipment integrates into a complete drive system along with Falk CTA gear drives, Addax carbon fiber couplings, Addax mechanical brakes, and Cambridge water screens. Together, these components form a robust solution that eliminates corrosion issues and reduces maintenance costs.
